Summertime is Here!

Summer. The unofficial start of this season is Memorial Day Weekend. The official day is June 20th, the longest day of the year. With all the added sunshine, people are heading to the beach or the mountains to get outside, breathe again, and throw off cabin fever from the winter.  Did you know people plan more for a vacation than they do their life? It’s true. Granted, taking vacations provides an excellent opportunity for rest and decluttering the mind. But changes are good, too. Living a static life is never a good goal. Time never stands still, and neither should you. Embrace change; it's not just a key to freedom and joy in life; it's a gateway to a more fulfilling and purposeful existence.

What does change and routine have to do with summer, anyway? Summer's energy is not just ideal for new beginnings but also new routines. Yes, laying out a new routine can be stressful, but it also gives you more time to do the activities you want to do, like taking a bike ride, hiking in the mountains, reading a good book on the beach, or swimming in the ocean, lake, or backyard pool. Summer is the perfect time to break free from old habits and start fresh with a routine that aligns with your goals and aspirations.

To design a routine, you first need a goal. Summer is when goals are pursued with vigor, relationships deepen, and career paths become more defined. It's a time when we reflect, step back, and celebrate our progress. This self-reflection and celebration are crucial for personal growth and motivation. If you don’t know where to start setting goals, take out a piece of paper and, in 15 minutes, write down everything you want to accomplish in your life, like a bucket list. Once your list is completed, please review it and decide when you want to achieve those things. This year, next year, in 5 or 10 years, decide. Have fun with it, and be proud of your journey! Remember, setting goals and creating routines is a continuous process, not a one-time event. It's about making small, consistent changes that yield significant long-term results. This process is not about being controlled by your goals but about taking control of your life and shaping it according to your aspirations.
